Represents the presence of law and order at Quairading.
Timber framed and iron roof structures. The lock up is a small separate structure at the rear of the police residence and office.
In 1909 the Quairading Progress association applied for a policeman. Goods were disappearing from the rail siding, and the weekly visit from the Beverley policeman was not adequate. In 1911 a residents petition stressed the necessity of police. A camp station was opened on Reserve 12040 in 1911, but had no lockup facilities. In 1912, a second officer was sent to assist, and in 1913, the Police house was constructed. Directly across from the railway siding, the policemen could appraise new comers to town.
